Testosterone Propionate

What is Testosterone Propionate?

Testosterone Propionate is the original form of Bio-Identical Testosterone, the first form that was offered to patients with a prescription. The problem with the first prototypes of Testosterone is that they would provide Testosterone, but the Testosterone would be absorbed directly into the bloodstream. When Testosterone is delivered directly to the blood, the body will utilize it as quickly as possible—too fast, making it ineffective for therapy.

Testosterone Propionate was Created Using Esterization

Hormone Scientists were able to circumvent this little problem through a process known as esterization. They combined Testosterone to an ester compound known as Propionate, which slowed down the rate at which Testosterone was absorbed into the body. This lets the patient experience a slow-drip of Testosterone which much more closely mimics the body's natural absorption-rate of the hormone. In short, Bio-Identical Testosterone Propionate created Testosterone Restoration.

There are still problems with Recombinant Testosterone Propionate, however. Propionate is a very short ester compound and doesn't sufficiently slow down the Testosterone Release Process as compared to other esterized Testosterone Shots. Testosterone delivered directly into the body without esterization is fully absorbed in 12 to 24 hours, meaning that to experience the full effects of therapy, it would take one or even two injections each day.

Testosterone Propionate slowed down absorption so that it would only need to be injected once every two days. Other forms of Testosterone Injection such as Testosterone Enanthate and Testosterone Cypionate just needs to be injected once every week or longer, making them much more preferable to most patients.

Testosterone Propionate is More Painful than Other Shots

Also, Testosterone Propionate has a higher incidence of injection-site irritation than other forms of Injectable Testosterone, which further draws people from their use.

Today, Testosterone Propionate continues to decline in popularity, but it should always be recognized as the treatment which made Bio-Identical Testosterone Replacement Treatments possible today.

What is the Benefit of Testosterone Propionate Over Other Forms of Testosterone Injection?

The primary benefit of Testosterone Propionate vs. Cypionate, Enanthate, and other forms of Testosterone is that it has the lowest incidence of bloating and water retention of any of the common Injectable Testosterone Compounds. For this reason, it is highly sought after on the black market, because it is those that abuse and use Testosterone for bodybuilding that experience these symptoms most commonly.

For patients that are using Testosterone Therapy for hormone restoration, this is much less of an issue, so the benefits of Testosterone Propionate for ordinary medical purposes are not nearly so pronounced, and you still have to deal with two to three injections per week.

How Much Does Testosterone Propionate Cost?

Testosterone Propionate is the most expensive of all of the Injectable Testosterone Formulations, because of the frequency with which injections have to be performed. It's popularity among bodybuilders and weightlifters also influences the price of the treatment in the black market, less so for legitimate use.

More Information About Testosterone Propionate

Like all forms of Bio-Identical Testosterone, Testosterone Propionate, also known as Test-Prop, is a highly potent androgen, which provides a powerful anabolic influence on health. Among all forms of Testosterone, Test-Prop is one of the most easily tolerated among all kinds of Supplemental Pharmaceutical Testosterone, and most patients have no issues with how their bodies respond to treatment.

Testosterone Balance is an essential aspect of male health, and Testosterone Propionate is one of the tools available to help men with Low-T restore normal and health Testosterone Levels. Age-Related Testosterone Deficiency, also known as Andropause, has a devastating impact on male health and masculinity and can depress many normal functions as well as increase the risk of a wide variety of Age-Related health issues. The following is just a short list of issues that men with Low-T struggle with on a daily basis:

  • Loss of Strength
  • Diminishing Muscle Mass
  • Fatigue
  • Loss of Sex Drive
  • Reduced Sexual Potency and Ability
  • Weakened Immune System
  • Cognitive Fogginess
  • Depression
  • Anxiety

If you are experiencing these issues, Testosterone Propionate may be able to restore and enhance your health. It's true that all forms of Prescription Testosterone Injections feature the same Bio-Identical Testosterone and can confer the same incredible benefits, each individual type of Injectable Testosterone has its own particular advantages and drawbacks.

Testosterone Propionate has the shortest ester chain among all common forms of Testosterone Injection Therapy in the United States. This means that, gram for gram, this form of Testosterone is the strongest available by weight. Testosterone Enanthate, for example, provides around 70 milligrams of Testosterone per 100 milligrams of medication. On the other hand, Testosterone Propionate contains about 83 milligrams of Testosterone per 100 milligrams of medication.

Because of the small ester that is used in the Test-Prop formulation, a single injection reaches half-potency in the bloodstream for about four days. This is briefer than any other type of Testosterone Injection provided via ester. This means that once the medication has been injected, it becomes active in full force quite quickly, but it also means that the body uses up the Free Testosterone quickly.

If you injected 80 milligrams of Testosterone Propionate, there would only be 40 milligrams in your system after four days, and 20 milligrams after eight days. With Testosterone Enanthate, on the other hand, you still have 50 milligrams active after 12 days. As you can clearly see, to get the normal effects of Testosterone Optimization, you will have to under many more Test-Prop injections per month than any other Ester-Testosterone Injection. Most physicians recommend delivering an Intramuscular Testosterone Propionate Injection every two days, every three days max.
