Malaysia #39;s Bar Council suggests chemical castration for repeat sex offenders
Malaysia #39;s Bar Council has suggested chemical castration for repeat sex offenders as an alternative to prison. The announcement comes half a year after a South Korean court ordered the chemical castration of a repeat sex offender for the first time in that country. Chemical castration involves the administration of anti-androgen drugs given via injection to the buttocks, thigh or shoulder. The drug reduces testosterone levels by competing with androgens for androgen receptors. The injection is given every three months. SOURCE: Press Trust of India, BBC, Wall Street Journal
